Bushfire Information

The Victorian Department of Education determines our Fire Danger category before the start of each fire season. They have determined our school to be Category 4 in the 2024/2025 year which demands we close on Catastrophic Fire Danger days on the CFA Fire Danger Rating system.

Section Title

We highly recommend you download the VicEmergency App via Google Play or Apple App Store to stay up to date with warnings and alerts. We are aware that unfortunately communications can go down during emergencies, however we will make every effort to keep you as informed as possible regarding the school.

When will we be informed about Catastrophic fire danger day closures?

We will endeavour to notify families no later than 4pm on the day prior to the forecasted Catastrophic fire danger day (based on the BoM forecast and public messaging from the emergency sector).

How will we be informed?

Families will be notified via Compass – please ensure that your contact details in Compass are kept up to date. You will receive a notification on your phone (if enabled) along with an email.

When the school is closed, will any staff remain on-site?

No. The safety of staff and students is our main priority, and no staff will remain on-site, and all other visitors and contractors will also not be allowed on site.

Is it possible that schools will be closed for consecutive days? If yes, how will parents be advised?

It is possible that our school will be closed for consecutive days.  If this occurs, keep up to date via our communications on email and Compass. We will be closed on all forecast Catastrophic days.
