Camps & Excursions
We run many great camps and excursions at Apollo Bay P-12 College. We love to give students an opportunity to spend time outside of the school environment together, learn about themselves, new environments, take on new challenges and develop new skills that translate into everyday life. Here is an overview of our regular camps, however they may change depending on a number of factors:

Year 2 Sleepover
The first camp is the Year 2 Sleepover. This camp involves doing some great local activites throughout the day and then staying overnight at the school! The students will love exploring behind the scenes at school and might even have a little party!

This is a great introduction to camps, preparing meals together and working together. It is a great launch into building confidence to go on new adventures.

Year 3 Bimbi Park Camp
Exploring the Cape Otway area and The Cape Otway Lightstation during the day, students settle into Bimbi Park Campgrounds for an overnight stay. Surrounded by nature, and snoozing koalas, they will take part in some great activities. The following day with lots of great new memories.

Year 4 Kangaroobie Camp
Year 4 students at Apollo Bay P-12 College have highly recommended this camp for decades. This lodge overlooking Gellibrand River with rolling hills is a great adventure camp offering an abundance of outdoor activities such as hut building, obstacle courses and river kayaking.

Year 5 Sovereign Hill
Staying onsite, Year 5 students will explore early colonial life in the Victorian Goldfields. They will try their hand at gold panning and see how daily life operates during this era. They will go on our underground mine tour and take in the impressive sound and light show. Year 7 Grampians/Gariwerd Camp
Year 7 students are invited to attend Grampians / Gariwerd camp. This camp involves lots of hiking, abseiling and camping along this maganificent mountain range. Students will learn more about the indigenous history of the area and includes lots of fun activities!

Year 8 Glenelg Camp
Year 7 camp involves travelling to the region then setting off on the Glenelg River in kayaks. Students will work together to travel to their next camping site each day and will be responsible for cooking and managing the campsite in a responsible manner.

Year 9 Ski Camp
Ski camp involves staying at Mt Hotham and learning how to ski or snowboard over a number of days on the mountain. They will take part in professionally guided ski lessons each day to ensure they are safe and develop skiing skills throughout their trip. A number of parent information sessions will be held to discuss the schedule, equipment and safety precautions.

Year 10 Drivers Camp
This camp is to develop safe driving skills in our learner drivers. Taking place in Charleton, students get hands-on driving practice with professional trainers so they learn good road awareness and understand the associated risks in being a road user.

Outdoor Ed - Cradle Mountain Hike
Senior school students who choose the Unit 3&4 Outdoor Education elective will be invited to hike Cradle Mountain. This camp requires lots of preparation and training beforehand to ensure students have built significant stamina and strength to walk long distances with a hike pack on. Students have returned from this camp with many tales to tell about strolling with wombats, being surrounded by colourful flora and pristine waters - as well as conquering Cradle Mountain of course! This camp usually scheduled for early in the year before the officail school year begins.

International Trip
Every 2 to 3 years a cohort of senior students join together to plan which country or countries they wish to explore after the end of the school year. Students work together to choose a destination, places to explore and activities to be a part whilst overseas. This exposure to different cultures and ways of life is invaluable.
Accompanied by school staff and working in collaboration with a third party provider to customise their trip. Students then fundraise together and/or work after school and weekend jobs in town to earn their ticket! Students must be self driven and keen on adventure for this life changing adventure.
